Hannah Turns 7

Dad and Birthday GirlIt seems like just yesterday I was laying around the house on bed rest when my water broke and Jake rushed me to the hospital for the arrival of our first baby girl. It amazes me how fast time flys, things change, and little girls grow.

Today we spent the day celebrating Hannah’s 7th birthday. It started with our annual breakfast in bed, which is a big fat donut with candle, not much but she looks forward to it every year. She opened a couple gifts and was thrilled to get cards from all her cousins in Texas. We rushed to get her ready for school and then off to the store we went to get cupcakes to take to her and her class. We picked up a happy meal from McDonald’s and headed to her school to surprise her for lunch. It is always fun seeing her in her own world with friends. The cupcakes were a big hit and the kids all wished her a happy birthday. After school we went to dinner at Perkin’s and Boomer’s to play (a place like Chuck E Cheese) with the Allain family, Caleb and Sarah. We all had breakfast for dinner and played for a few hours before heading home to hang out and play some more. It was an amazing day and it ended with praying a blessing over our growing daughter and thanking God for the special gift He gave us 7 years ago.

Hannah loved all the gifts and time we spent together. She also loves the fact that she only has to sit in her booster seat when driving for one more year. She hates that thing and is ready to be done with it. So here’s to another year of blessings and joy with our beautiful daughter. She will always be my baby even though she’s now a little lady.

Summer Time

Well summer has arrived. We had set a goal with Hannah that she would learn to swim before the summer ended. We had a meeting after church today and my amazing friend Courtney took the girls with her to go swimming. By the time I got there to get them Hannah had floaties on jumping off the diving board. This in itself amazed me as she is very much like me and not daring at all. She is my cautious one. I couldn’t get her out of the pool so I took Elle home for a while and then went back to get her. When we walked into the back yard there she was swimming under water with no floaties and no one around to help! I was so shocked. She was in the pool for almost 5 hours and taught herself how to swim. I was so proud of her. Now I have to go get her some goggles and come up with a new summer goal!

Amazing Girls

I am so blessed to have such a great group of girls to work with. They are such a blessing to us. Last night Elena and Ashley came over and watched the girls so Jake and I could go out with some friends on a much needed date. I always know that they will be well taken care of and have a good time. Thanks girls! You are the best.

Christmas

The girls were up early, Jake took his place by the tree and the day began.  Jake handed out the gifts, his annual job and I did video and pictures.  I love to see how excited the girls get when opening gifts.  We could have wrapped up a bunch of Elle’s toys she already had and she would have been fine.  It was just opening packages she was interested in.  Until she opened up her Dora game.  That was the end of gift opening for her.  Hannah did the classic, “This has to be clothes, open, toss to the side, where’s the next thing”.  We got lots of new books to read and a fun new game thanks to Grandma and Grandpa.  By the time we got things opened and the trash picked up Jake started making Jumbalaya for lunch.  After lunch it was nap time and then we went to the Fisher’s for dinner and played some Settler’s with Chad and Dawn.  The kids got to play and we were able to hang out with some great friends.  We sure missed being with family but it was still a very blessed day.  Hannah is already counting down to next year.  img_4070img_4052img_4043

Christmas Eve

I had to work today until 2.  I scurried home to get myself and the girls ready for our Christmas Eve service.  I realized how little I dress the girls up when Elle got her dress on and started twirling around saying, “I’m a beautiful princess”.  It was nice to have service at the church this year.  We had 2 services we were able to see some good friends and share in the worship and reflection of Christ’s birth.  I tried to get a picture of the girls with their pretty dresses on and of course fought Elle to smile.  Hannah is my little model like always.  After service we headed home to spend the evening with Casey, Val, and their girls.  We had some Chili’s, watched a Christmas movie, the girls exchanged gifts, and played a while.  Elle was happiest playing with the hand me down Dora toys that Val gave her.  She plopped right down on the kitchen floor princess dress and all.  It was such a fun night.  Service went well, fellowship with good friends is always fun.  It is the time of year you really take note of all the blessings God has given us.

Thanksgiving

We had such a blessed Thanksgiving and long weekend.  An amazing family in our church made us a full meal and we were able to stay in and relax all weekend.  As busy as we are most of the time it was a much needed break and very enjoyable.  We ate, watched movies, ate some more, played Hannah Montana Uno, colored, ate, you get the picture.  Thank you to the Cilladi’s for making and delivering our meal.  You guys are such a blessing!

Birthday Party

Hannah and Hallie had their birthday party today.  After church we went to the Englerth’s for cupcake brownies, pin the tail on the donkey, friends, presents, and of course a hay ride.  The girls had such a fun time with all their friends and Casey hooked up the trailer to his tractor and took the kids and Brad Aldrich (the tailgate) out for a ride through the countryside.  Everyone had such a great time.  We had sloppy joe’s for dinner when some of the youth came over and just hung out all afternoon.  We are so blessed with such good friends.

Winding Down

We had a fun day today.  After being sick all week Hannah was getting a little cabin fever (I’ll admit, I was too).  Some of our close friends, Derek & Lily, have been out of town going on 10 days and we have really started to miss them (we usually see them at least 4 days a week).  So after church today, our other friends, Casey & Val, came and spent the day with us.  They have two girls right about Hannah’s age and they played hard all day.  We decided to get some Chili’s-to-Go, thanks to a wonderful christmas gift card, and Dyer’s Cryers (Jake’s favorite hot wings joint).  We had a pretty lazy day.  They guys watched football; although I caught them napping mid afternoon.  Val and I have started a new adventure and are going to start our own photography  business.  So we set up a make shift studio and took some pictures of the girls.  We worked on getting our business web site done the rest of the afternoon.  The guys went tonight and saw I Am Legend.  I put baby to bed, made some popcorn for us girls and while the girls watched GiGi and Peter Pan, Val and I went “retro” and started watching the first season of Friends.  We got through the first disk by the time the guys came back and now it is off to bed.  This lady needs her beauty sleep, especially after a late UFC night last night!  So we had a fun relaxing day that I look forward to doing again hopefully soon.
